Hot Start to 2016 for Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Market

Buoyed by a strong economy and abnormally warm weather, the Kitchener-Waterloo real estate market started 2016 with a bang. Market stats for Jan 2016 (% increase vs. Jan 2015):

  • 309 residential properties sold (+29.8%)
  • Single Detached Homes sold for avg. $409,101 (+10.5%)
  • Condominiums sold for avg. $214,464 (-7.6%)
  • Townhomes sold for avg. $311,509 (+12.4%)
  • Semi Detached Homes sold for avg. $283,966 (+10%)
  • Average selling price of all residential properties: $353,514 (+8.2%)

 

According to KWAR President, Charlotte Zawada, “Buyers and sellers will be all the more eager once spring hits, and we are expecting a strong spring market.” “With interest rates holding steady we should continue to draw people looking to live and invest in Waterloo Region.”
